Michelle Harris' revamped chair

Michelle Harris

Materials:
Old chair
Fabric
Paint
Foam pad

Description of your project:
I purchased the old chair off eBay for £25. It had seen better days and I'd been after a chair to recover for a while so this was perfect. I like the retro style of it. I purchased the fabric from a local factory that has a brilliant sale of surplus stick every so often. It only cost £2.

How you made your project:
Firstly I removed the old tatty fabric and gave the chair a good clean and sand down. Then I taped off the bottom of the legs and arms so I could get a dipped paint effect. The paint was from the Rustoleum range and they were my winnings from a competition that I had entered with them.

The cushion again was next to nothing to make. I had some green velvety fabric in my collection and a spare cushion pad. I cut out the birds and appliquéd them on with my sewing machine.

Where you got your inspiration from:

I took inspiration from the beautiful colours and birds in the fabric.

Overall cost:
So overall, it was a bargain project and I'm massively pleased with the outcome. Not bad for £27!
