Did you know this week is National Picnic Week? It means there’s pretty much no excuse to not head out and enjoy a delicious alfresco feast.
So, when it comes down to it, what exactly are we taking with us?
Well, we've spoken to Flora who have taken a sneak peek into exactly what the nation is taking with them. The study found 60 per cent of us are upgrading our picnics with products like artisan lemonade, homemade bread, hummus and even champagne - let's hope they remember glasses...
The average Brit will have nearly six picnics over the summer, and ends up spending an average of £30, along with an hour of preparation to get ready for an alfresco trip.
However, a picnic also presents another great opportunity - say hello to showing off your cooking skills.
24 per cent are making their own quiche, while 21 per cent bake a honey coated ham. 32 per cent bring homemade lemonade along, while 26 per cent bake their own cakes. Home baked bread has also risen in popularity, while an extra popular eight per cent brought their own homebrew along with them.
The study also showed the changes in drinking trends, with one in ten deciding Prosecco is no longer viewed as cool enough to be welcome at their al-fresco experience.
So, to accompany this, what foods have we started to turn our back on? Well, they may be a staple, but traditional jam sandwiches are now viewed as a firm no-go by 32 per cent of us, with hard-boiled eggs (26 per cent) following.
Interestingly, meat has also started to decline, with scotch eggs, cocktail sausages and pork pies all dipping in popularity. 12 per cent have begun to make sure there are always vegan options available too, while 20 per cent want to try giving more plant-based diets a go.
