Perhaps the only downside of the warmer weather being upon us is that it means it's time to embrace hay fever - oh joy.
Many of us will find ourselves suffering from watery eyes and itchy noses, yet it's not only during the daytimes that we can feel this - the symptoms can lead to a disrupted night's sleep too.
The good news is there's something we can do to get around this. Well, Stephanie Romiszewski, a sleep expert at Bensons for Beds, is on hand with her tips, explaining what you can do to ensure you're not kept awake at night...
1. Make sure you wash everything with hot water - that includes your hair and bedding (and don't forget your mattress pillows and duvet - not only the covers!). Pollen is sticky, so you want to remove as much as you can before you go to bed.
2. Is your home prone to damp? Well, use a dehumidifier to reduce the amount of mould spores that have built up - they all play a part in irritating your airways.
3. Keeping the windows closed during the day will help you prevent any pollen from coming into your bedroom.
4. Get in the habit of hoovering both your room and curtains before going to bed each day - this particularly applies on high pollen count days.
5. A healthy sleeping routine is incredibly important. It doesn't matter how you sleep - you should still make sure you get up at the same time every day. You also want to ensure you don't go to bed until you feel sleepy. Another key move will be avoiding napping during the day - particularly when hay fever season is upon us. Otherwise, you risk suffering from more interruptions at night, and before you know it, it will become a habit.
Stephanie said: "This last point is important. Hay fever will not last forever, but poor behaviour when we have hay fever can make the sleep problems associated with hay fever last for much longer. Don’t underestimate the power of your own behaviour!"
