Getting the most comforting and supportive sleep experience possible doesn’t just come down to your mattress - it depends on your entire sleep space. Our bedrooms should always allow us to drift off into a soothing slumber, so we wanted to highlight a number of essentials you need to get the best sleep of your life, guaranteed...
1. Purifying plants
One of the best ways to keep your sleep environment feeling fresh and vibrant, is to purify the air with a plant. Mood-enhancing house plants such as Ferns, Succulents and Areca palms, will increase the oxygen levels and enhance the atmosphere. Even the green colour will introduce a calm aesthetic to your bedroom.
2. Herbal teas
Herbal teas have the amazing ability to ease stress and help us relax, it’s no wonder many cultures have used them as a natural sleep remedy for hundreds of years. Establish a routine each night, with a cup of chamomile, lemon balm, valerian or whatever caffeine-free herbal tea take your fancy.
3. Carbon-based books
After a stressful day, unwinding with a good book can be an effective way to quieten down your mind and make it easier to fall asleep. Stick with a physical book though, as the blue light from electronic devices, like a tablet, can disrupt our body’s production of the sleep hormone melatonin - leaving us feeling more awake.
4. Noise machines
A noise machine is another great way to nullify sleep disruption, as they emit a steady ambient sound, designed to help you tune out other noises. They can be quite a sound investment (yes we went there) and there’s plenty of options when it comes to serene natural sounds, such as soft rainfall or a gentle breeze.
5. The mattress
We’ve come back to the mattress, because unsurprisingly, it’s the most important part of your sleep space. Investing in a luxury natural mattress can work wonders for improving your sleep experience, and ideally it should be breathable and tailored to your bodyweight for maximum benefit.
You deserve to feel comforted and supported each night, and when it comes to getting the most restful and peaceful sleep, it’s all about the bed.
