Etsy has just made online shopping guilt-free

Posted 6th March

How does some guilt-free online shopping sound?

Well, good news - Etsy is now offering just that. The online marketplace has announced that it is going to offset 100 per cent of carbon emissions that shipping generates, making it the first e-commerce platform to do so – and it starts with immediate effect.

It now means that shopping on Etsy will allow you to take a stand against climate change, helping to protect over 10 million trees and supporting wind & solar projects that create clean energy.

Shoppers are becoming increasingly conscious about what they purchase. For instance, on Etsy alone, there are currently over 253,000 search results for 'eco-friendly' products.

One way to ensure you're making some smart decisions will be by working with independent makers who can share their process to make sure there is a low carbon footprint and eco-friendly ingredients are used.

Research in the UK has revealed consumers are increasingly bothered about where their products originate from - in fact, 68 per cent are looking for local, sustainable or ethically sourced options.

On top of this, 57 per cent of Brits have revealed their purchasing decisions, based on sustainability and waste, were more important in 2018 than they had been in 2017.
