Quick and easy tote bag

You will need

fabric, we used Tutti Frutti for bag and Lollipop for straps - both from Harlequin
scissors

Directions
Cut two pieces of fabric 38cm wide and 35cm long. With right sides together and using a 1.5cm hem, stitch round the two short sides and one long side to form the bag. Turn right side out and iron flat.

On the top edge of the bag, fold under 1cm, iron flat and then fold over again 3cm. Iron and stitch close to the folded edge.

Cut two pieces of fabric 70cm long x 7cm wide. Fold a 1cm hem all the way down both long sides of each piece and iron flat.

Then fold each piece in half lengthways and stitch along the long edge to make the shoulder straps. Fold in the short raw ends and pin the ends of the handles onto the bag 7cm from the side seams and stitch in place. Sew an X where the handle meets the bag, going through all layers to give it strength.

Tip
Why not add a little square pocket on to the outside too? It's easier if you sew this on first before you assemble the bag.
