Forget your average beans on toast, these recipes are perfect for a cost-cutting weekday dinner!

Whether you like them on toast, with your English breakfast, or in a toastie, there's no denying that beans are a British staple. In celebration of Heinz's latest launch – Heinz Creationz – we're bringing you three delicious weekday recipes celebrating the humble bean!

Mexican Bean Quesadilla

Makes: 12 servings

Preparation Time: 10-15 minutes

Cooking Time: 45-55 minutes

- 3 tbsp groundnut oil

- 3 peppers sliced thinly

- 2 onions sliced thinly

- 1 tbsp cayenne pepper

- 1 tbsp cumin

- 1 tsp paprika

- Pinch of salt & pepper

- 3 packets of Heinz Creationz: Mexican Beanz

- 10 regular flour tortillas

- 150g cheddar

To serve:

- Guacamole

- Salsa

1. Preheat your oven to 180ºC (350ºF).

2. Put 1 tbsp of groundnut oil in a large, deep sided frying pan and fry the peppers and onion until soft, then stir in the spices. Pour in the Heinz Creationz: Mexican Beanz and simmer for around 5 minutes to thicken.

3. Season to taste before taking off the heat and setting aside.

4. Cut six of the tortillas in half, leaving the other four whole.

5. Brush a lined baking tray with some of the groundnut oil and lay the half tortillas around the edge, straight sides facing outwards, to make a layer. Place two whole tortillas in the middle to cover the gaps.

6. Spoon the Beanz mixture over the layer of tortillas and sprinkle with cheddar, then top with two tortillas in the middle.

7. Place the cut tortillas around the edge, straight side out, then brush with the remaining groundnut oil. Place a layer of baking paper on the top along with another baking tray and bake for 30-40 minutes, grilling for the final 10 minutes to crisp up.
