How long do you spend cleaning each week?

A study, conducted by Harvey Water Softeners, in partnership with TalkHealth, analysed the weekly cleaning habits of 842 Brits, and has revealed Brits are spending 5 hours or more on domestic cleaning activities each week.

It was found that 31.47% of respondents spend between 5 and 10 hours carrying out cleaning chores each week, while amazingly, 1 in 10 said theirs takes between 11 and 15 hours of their time each week.

Other results also found nearly 7% were spending more than 16 hours on their cleaning tasks each week, while another 47% would only spend 1-4 hours carrying out theirs.

Martin Hurworth, the managing director of Harvey Water Softeners, said: "Britons are always looking for ways to save time cleaning, but the true impact has not been measured before. It’s not surprising that some of us are spending over 16 hours a week on cleaning, especially when we consider the level of limescale build-up in kitchens and bathrooms are making things so much worse."

"Minerals such as chalk and magnesium in hard water creates limescale over our appliances, pipes and hard-to-clean areas, making it even harder."

The study revealed the average time that Brits spend cleaning each week is:

- 5% spend 0 hours cleaning due to not doing it themselves or having a cleaner

- 47% said they spend between 1 and 4 hours

- 31% said they spend 5-10 hours

- 9% said they spend between 11-15 hours

- 6% say they spend 16+ hours
