Your essential guide to choosing the right flooring

Choosing the right flooring for your home can be a daunting task. With an overwhelming number of options, it's hard to know where to begin! But never fear, as we've teamed up with Floors of Stone to carefully curate a range of flooring options that meet the needs of our lovely readers.

Natural Stone

Floors of Stone have long been one of the leaders in the natural stone flooring market. Nothing beats the abundance of character, beautiful variation and timeless feel of a stone floor. Used as a floor covering for centuries, its popularity has never waned. Floors of Stone's carefully selected range of limestone, marble, slate, travertine and sandstone give customers plenty of options – without being overwhelming!

For those who want to inject some character into a room, a tumbled tile or flagstone is a great choice. Distressed edges give a worn appearance, and the slightly rough surface makes them practical for busy areas of the home, such as kitchens or hallways.

Honed or polished tiles give a room a much more contemporary feel, with their straight edges and smooth surface. This finish looks stunning in a new build property or for those wanting a fuss-free look.

Porcelain

For those who are a little nervous about the variation found in natural stone, porcelain is a fantastic alternative. As a manmade product, there is much more control over the colour of the tiles, and they are super hardwearing, ideal for busy family homes. Porcelain comes in a variety of finishes, from a flat colour, to stone effect, concrete effect and the ever popular wood effect, there is something to suit every home. The straight edges and matt surface gives porcelain a clean, modern look, and are perfect for use in bathrooms and kitchens.

Planks & Parquet

This new range of wood, Planks & Parquet, has been carefully and considerately chosen to meet the needs of Floors of Stone's customers. The perfect alternative, or even accompaniment, to natural stone, wood has warm, natural tones and gorgeous detail, meaning it never falls out of style. The popularity of parquet has soared in recent years, so Floors of Stone has tailored its range to meet the demands of everyday life. It is hardwearing; can be used over underfloor heating and is easy to maintain. From the planks range, made from dramatically brushed and burned wood, to a delicate white-washed effect, all can be used over underfloor heating.

These intricate squares of gorgeousness are the most wonderful finishing touch, whether it's for a kitchen splashback, fireplace surround or bathroom walls.
