Craft a butterfly covered shade
You will need
white paper shades, £2.99 for three, HobbyCraft
Painter’s Touch purple gloss spray paint, £6.99 per 400ml can, Rust-Oleum
A4 paper (for the template)
scissors
fine marker pen
Viola Vita assorted print coloured self-adhesive paper pad, £6.49 per book, HobbyCraft
glue gun and glue sticks
Directions
Make up the shades and lay them upside down on scrap paper. Spray the underneath of the shades with purple spray paint and leave to dry.
Download and print a copy of the butterfly template here. Cut around the three butterfly shapes to make your templates. Use a marker pen to trace round the templates onto coloured card, and cut them out. We used approx 12-15 butterflies for each shade. Gently bend the butterfly wings upwards.
Use a hot glue gun to fix the butterflies onto the shade. Remember the shade will be more visible from the underside so add more butterflies lower down.
Tip
Hang several paper shades together to make an eye-catching display
